A board meeting is the official gathering of board members, the main purpose of which is to enable them to make decisions on matters within the board’s authority and to carry out strategic interventions in the organisation’s activities.
The organised nature of a board meeting, including a logical agenda, the relevance of the items discussed, their reasonable number, a balance between operational and strategic matters, and clearly defined priorities, can serve as an additional incentive for board members to ensure their informed and engaged participation.
Guided by this, the Corporate Governance Center has developed and presented to the stakeholder community, during the seminar discussion held on November 28, the “How to Organise Board Meetings” guide.
In her remarks, Narine Melikyan, Director of the Corporate Governance Center, addressed the 19 questions and answers included in the Guide, which not only cover almost all essential aspects of organising and conducting board meetings, but also offer solutions.
The Seminar Discussion was attended by board members, executives, corporate secretaries, consultants, and other corporate governance officers of Armenian companies. They had the opportunity not only to receive answers to their questions, but also to share their own experience and practices.
The Guide has been developed, and the Seminar Discussion has been implemented by the Corporate Governance Center, in collaboration with the Center for International Private Enterprise and as part of the ”Responding to Threats of Corrosive Capital in Armenia. Phase III” project, funded with UK International Development from the UK government.
