Launch of the “Women on the Board of Directors” Training

On November 21, the Corporate Governance Center launched the unprecedented “Women on the Board of Directors” training in Armenia. It aims to contribute to greater professionalism and effectiveness within the boards of Armenian organisations by enhancing women’s capacities and promoting their representation.

At the opening event, welcome remarks were delivered by Paul Morris, Chargé d’ Affaires (a.i) of the British Embassy in Yerevan, and Natalia Otel Belan, Regional Director for Europe and Eurasia at the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).

Narine Melikyan, Director of the Corporate Governance Center, presented the training program to the event participants, noting that it was developed in line with international best practices for board-level training. She added that CGC has engaged both local and international experts as trainers and speakers, who will deliver master classes or, as special guests, present several contemporary topics in corporate governance.

The trainers and speakers include Narine Melikyan, Elena Khachvankyan, Michael Schweiger, Clara Gruitrooy, Silke Robeller, Hasmik Khachatryan, Veronika Azatyan, Sabine Everaet, Lilit Gevorgyan, David Risser, and Hagen Schweinitz.

The training cohort stands out for its diversity, representing the private, non-profit, and public sectors. Another key objective of the training is to raise public awareness about corporate governance issues, which is particularly important and urgent in light of the implementation of the new RA Corporate Governance Code.

The training is implemented by the Corporate Governance Center, in collaboration with the Center for International Private Enterprise and as part of the ”Responding to Threats of Corrosive Capital in Armenia. Phase III” project, funded with UK International Development from the UK government.
