The Corporate Governance Center, highlighting the importance of strengthening financial integrity in Armenia’s business landscape, once again held the “Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing, and Their Prevention” training within the Business Integrity Club on May 27 and 29.
While the first training held in February was intended for business associations operating in Armenia, this time the Business Integrity Club participants and other entities subject to reporting obligations under AML/CFT legislation were the target audience.
The training was held in collaboration with the Center for International Private Enterprise and as part of the ”Responding to the Threat of Corrosive Capital in Armenia: Enhancing Coordination between the Public and Private Sectors” project, funded by the UK International Development from the UK government.
The training was conducted by Hasmik Khachatryan and Narine Melikyan.
To share their experience and practical insights with the training participants, heads of internal monitoring units from Armenia’s leading commercial banks, specifically Zaruhi Avakimyan, Head of the Financial Monitoring Division at Converse Bank CJSC, and Grigor Veziryan, Head of the Internal Monitoring Division at AraratBank OJSC, were invited as special guest speakers.
More than 50 participants attended the training and gave highly positive feedback on its content, the trainers’ delivery, and the contributions of the special guests.
The training will be followed by a webinar on June 6, dedicated to ML/TF preventive measures. The webinar will be led by Martin Bothof, an international expert in risk management and compliance.
A key component of the project is the mentorship provided to the training participants, within which they will receive support in drafting, improving, and revising their internal AML/CFT legal acts, such as policies, concepts, rules, regulations, procedures, and more.
