On February 26, the Corporate Governance Center concluded the “Women on the Board of Directors” training – 2025–2026.
The Training was launched on November 21, 2025, as part of the ”Responding to Threats of Corrosive Capital in Armenia. Phase III” project. The Project is funded with UK International Development from the UK Government and implemented in collaboration with the Center for International Private Enterprise.
The final event of the Training was held through the joint efforts of the organisers and participants, aiming to summarise the journey and draw lessons learned.
Welcoming and keynote remarks were delivered to the Training participants by Alexandra Pamela Cole, His Majesty’s Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia; Luiza Ayvazyan, Head of Office for Armenia at the Center for International Private Enterprise; and Narine Melikyan, Director of the Corporate Governance Center.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to share their views, approaches, and recommendations regarding the Training.
The common conclusion is that the Training has been a success, as evidenced by both quantitative and qualitative indicators.
The “Women on the Board of Directors” training – 2025–2026 produced 48 graduates who are high-level professionals not only from the private sector but also from the public and non-profit sectors. A notable achievement was the participation of men, as the knowledge delivered through the Training is not defined by gender and is equally valuable for both female and male board members or board candidates.
It is encouraging that all components of the Training received high ratings from participants. Of particular importance is the increase in participants’ knowledge, which reached 78%. In addition, 98% of Training participants expressed their readiness to advocate for the implementation of the RA Corporate Governance Code in their organisations.
In her remarks, Narine Melikyan, Director of the Corporate Governance Center, expressed her deep gratitude to the UK Government and the Center for International Private Enterprise, as well as to the irreplaceable trainers Elena Khachvankyan and Hasmik Khachatryan; the special guests Clara Gruitrooy, Veronika Azatyan and Lilit Gevorgyan; and the master class speakers Michael Schweiger, Sabine Everaet, David Risser, Tigran Davtyan, Gohar Sisakyan, and Hagen Schweinitz.
She also extended special thanks to all Training participants for their engaged and goal-oriented participation.
