On December 5, Narine Melikyan, Director of the Corporate Governance Center, participated in the “Role of the Private and Civil Sectors in Preventing Corruption” panel discussion.
During her remarks, she addressed the findings of the OECD’s Regional Study on Business Integrity and Armenia’s position within it, which lags significantly behind other countries studied (Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Azerbaijan) in adoption of anti-corruption policies by the business sector, corruption risk assessment, and the establishment of corporate codes of conduct/ethics, among other indicators. She emphasized the crucial role of collective business efforts in improving the situation, particularly through initiatives such as the Business Integrity Club.
In the subsequent session, Narine Melikyan conducted the “Ethics and Anti-Corruption Compliance Program” training for private sector representatives. The training provided participants with an understanding of the importance of such programs in assessing and preventing corruption risks and introduced them to the key pillars of these programs.
The event was organized by the Center for International Private Enterprise within the framework of the “Uniting Forces to Prevent Corruption” campaign of the RA Ministry of Justice.
