On June 13, the Corporate Governance Center held the “Role of the Corporate Secretary in the Implementation of the RA Corporate Governance Code” seminar, highlighting the vital role of corporate secretaries in enhancing governance practices within companies.
During the seminar, the following key topics were presented and discussed:
🔹 Modern trends in the evolving role of the corporate secretary,
🔹 New RA Corporate Governance Code and its enshrined approaches and principles,
🔹 Opportunities for the phased implementation of the Code,
🔹 Nature of the Corporate Governance Progression Matrix,
🔹 Disclosure and reporting under the RA Corporate Governance Code, among other matters.
The seminar brought together around 50 participants. While it was primarily intended for corporate governance (board) secretaries, board members, executives, internal auditors, and other professionals responsible for corporate governance in companies also attended the event.
Participants highly valued the seminar’s content and stressed the importance of organising similar events regularly and the necessity to provide advisory support to companies in implementing the Corporate Governance Code and preparing their annual reports.
The RA Corporate Governance Code was approved by Order No. 1955-N of the RA Minister of Economy on July 30, 2024, and entered into force on August 30, 2024.
The Code is a legal act that sets out principles and guidelines designed to enhance the effectiveness of corporate governance, safeguard shareholders’ rights, and improve transparency and reporting practices.
