The “Annual Conference of Corporate Governance in Armenia – 2023” offically commenced on June 29 with the “Networking Day” event, organized by the Corporate Governance Center.
The Networking event was driven by the interregional nature of the Conference, hosting both participants and speakers from different countries. Its purpose was to:
- introduce the Conference speakers and participants to Armenia,
- foster informal communication between local and foreign participants of the Conference and explore possibilities for cooperation.
The Networking event was attended by participants of the Business Integrity Club, Armenian Women on the Board of Directors Network, representatives of CIPE, CLDP, partners from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other stakeholders of the Center.
During the event, opening remarks were delivered by Narine Melikyan, Luiza Ayvazyan, and Michael Cofield.
The participants had the opportunity to gain insights into the gradual establishment of the Armenian economy and the transformations undergone by the corporate governance institute during them through a dialogue between Vache Gabrielyan, former Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and Dean of the College of Economics and Business at the American University, and Tigran Karapetyan, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Center.
One of the motivations for organizing the event was to award certificates to the graduates of “Women on the Board of Directors – 2023”.
Thirty-five graduates received a certificate of successful completion, and three received a certificate of participation in the training. Since the beginning of the training, the Center has trained approximately 100 women, 84 of whom were awarded certificates of successful completion.
At the end of the certificate awarding ceremony Hagen Schweinitz (Germany), Global Practice Leader of Board & Governance Advisory Practice at international consulting company Eric Salmon & Partners, and Aleksandr Shaghikyan, Partner and Head of Advisory at BDO Armenia, a participant of the Business Integrity Club, delivered speeches supporting the mission of the Center and the Armenian Women on the Board of Directors Network, particularly in ensuring the inclusion of women on the boards of Armenian companies.
