The first ESG school for young entrepreneurs in Armenia

On October 20, the new initiative of the Corporate Governance Center, the first ESG school for young entrepreneurs in Armenia, was ended.

The idea of the School arose from the activation of companies’ social and environmental role in the modern business world. ESG School is an educational platform whose mission is to prepare a new generation of business leaders who will be able to take on the responsibility of overcoming stereotypes in the business sector of Armenia and become a guiding force for positive changes.

The ESG School is not a one-time initiative of the Center. It will be repeated on a regular basis. In addition, graduates of the School will have the opportunity to participate in other initiatives and activities of the Center to develop their knowledge and abilities continuously, and the best ones will be invited to the Business Integrity Club led by the Center.

The ESG school’s content is designed with the logic of developing the participants’ theoretical and practical knowledge and abilities on various aspects of sustainability, ESG issues, and good governance. The School was taught by both local and foreign experienced specialists, such as Arsen Nazaryan, Elena Khachvankyan, Hagen Schweinitz, Hasmik Khachatryan, Mariana Javakhyan, Naira Margaryan and Narine Melikyan.

At the final event of the ESG School, Lilit Hakobyan, Head of the Entrepreneurship Department of the RA Ministry of Economy, presented the state programs aimed at supporting SMEs, directing the participants of the School to use the opportunities provided by them if necessary.

At the final event, the graduates of the School had the opportunity to communicate with young entrepreneurs Hasmik Khachatryan, Argam Abrahamyan, Gagik Grigoryan, and Taron Varazdatyan. They presented their motivations for starting their own business, talked about the problems they face as young entrepreneurs, mentioned what they would like to change in the business environment of Armenia and advised their budding partners to always take care of developing their knowledge and abilities, managing with values and establishing reliable relations with stakeholders.

Twenty-two people graduated from the first ESG school, five of whom were given the opportunity to participate in the Club without a fee for a year.

The School was organized with the support of the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) within the framework of the “Europe and Eurasia: Creating Enabling Environments for Constructive Capital – Phase IV” project.
